Summer Reads

gulfofmexicoSummer. It will be here before you know it. Soon school will be out and families will be going on vacation. Some will head to the beach, others to the mountains or perhaps faraway lands. I love the beach, I’m a beach girl. Maybe because I grew up in Alabama near the shores of the Gulf of Mexico.  I have lots of great memories staying at the beach with my family, picnics on the sand–swimming in the warm water. Now, I try to take a beach vacation every summer. Someplace I can sit on a deck overlooking the Gulf of Mexico and read.  So right about now is when I start looking for good books to take with me.

the-gulf-of-mexico-onSo, help me out here. If I was heading for a beach vacation, can you recommend a book I shouldn’t leave without tucking it into my suitcase?

  1. The Evermore series or the Red Queen series. Both are amazing 🙂 but still not better then your books!

  2. I’m currently reading The Girl At Midnight by Melissa Grey, quite good and immersive. Or any of P. C. Cast’s Goddess Summoning series, they are all brilliant! Hope this helps 🙂

  3. I could tell you a couple hundred, but I’ll settle for the last couple I’ve read that are new favorites of mine. I have been reading e-books lately, one is The Expulsion Project Series by Norma Hinkens, great sci-fi, YA books! Then I am currently in love with Gathering Frost by Kaitlyn Davis! Another YA romance / sleeping beauty re-telling. If your looking for an adult read I recommend A Curious Beginning by Deanna Raybourn, an adult historical / mystery book with plenty of humor too!

My to-read shelf currently has The Women in the Castle by Jessica Shattuck and Hunted by Meagan Spooner.

Good luck in your book pickings!

  4. Right now I’m reading the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon and am really enjoying it. Impossible by Nancy Werlin is another interesting read that is quick and brought me new meaning to the song Scarborough Fair. The Dispossessed series by Page Morgan is also enjoyable, as well as books by Cassandra Clare and Jamie McGuire. There are so many a person could list!

  5. A Court of Wings And Ruin!! It’s the third book of Sarah J. Maas’s ACOTAR series. Definitely something that you should try out (if you haven’t already 😉

  6. I recommend the Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R. Ward. The First book is Dark Lover. Also Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire was pretty good. My daughter recommends Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare & Splintered by A.G. Howard. If you like to read YA books like we do.

    • The books are recommended however are not for children. Only my daughter’s recommendations are for teens and under.

  7. One of my favorite series I have read this year is ‘the Twilight Saga,’ by Stephanie Meyer. However, my number one, most currently favorite series, is ‘Shadow Falls.’ I absolutely love it!! I am currently on ‘Whispers at Moonrise,’ the third book. The other books I will be reading this summer, though, are ‘Asylum’ by Madeleine Roux, ‘Throne of Glass’ by Sarah J. Maas, ‘The Fault in Our Stars’ by John Green, and ‘Marked: House of the night’ by P.C. Cast. Plus more!
