Ahh…Florida! Yup, I’m relaxing in the Sunshine State. Yeah, right! No, I’m actually at RWA’s National Conference in Orlando. And while I am having a great time reconnecting with old friends and attending the events, I’m still working. I taught a two-hour workshop, had several book signing, and met with my publishers. Okay, I ‘ll admit it, there were parties, too. I partied at my agency’s cocktail event. Oh, and my publishers threw parties. I ate yummy appetizer’s at Grand Central’s get-together and had front row seats at Disney World’s fireworks. And visited, chatted and laughed with authors at the St. Martin’s party. I can honestly say meeting with other writer’s is one of the main reasons I enjoy this conference. We are like a big family. Even if you don’t know them, it’s like being instantly connected because writers are so often alike.
I always feel like I should start training for this conference a couple of months ahead. Every time, it’s at a very large hotel, so there is a lot of walking, and it never fails I’ll be at one end of the hotel and I’ll have to get to opposite end in a hurry. Then there’s the eating! Good thing I’m walking, because I enjoy going out to eat with my friends, and the food is always great.
The RITA and Golden Heart Awards ceremony was awesome. Congratulations to all the winners and finalists. We had a great turnout for RWA’s Autographing for Literacy, which is a huge (and when I say huge, I mean 500+ authors) book signing event. I think that’s always my favorite event at this conference because I get to meet so many on my fans. Sometimes, I finally get to meet a fan who has been emailing me for years. It’s such a cool feeling to connect with them. The Autographing for Literacy is something RWA does at every conference, and has donated all the proceeds to literacy programs since 1990. It’s raised over 1 million dollars since then! So, I’m always eager to participate in the book signing. Here are some pics from the Literacy Autographing.

I loved meeting another blogger and a fan! Jessica Porter and her blogger daughter Anarece–yes, she is a blogger. Her blog is Crossroads Reviews, and she brought all my books to the Literacy Autographing for my to sign.
And did I mention parties? Yup, this is me having a wonderful time at the Bookends party with (L to R) Kim Lionetti, Pamela Lebud, me, Rochelle Wienstein and Christina Britton. Good times!
By the time this blog comes out, however, I’ll be back home working extra hard to make up for the days I was at the conference. I love traveling, but it’s always nice to come home.
